Our Austin office is looking for a User Experience Designer to join our Experience Design team. The UX Designer is responsible for developing thoughtful user-centered design solutions for complex and dynamic mobile, desktop and web applications. Your solutions will deftly balance a client’s business objectives, user needs, creative opportunities and the technology capabilities. You will collaborate and cooperate with UI designers, interaction designers, developers, cross functional teams and clients.

An ideal candidate is organized, has natural time and self-management skills and is capable of juggling multiple accounts and tasks. You will effectively engage your project leads for approvals and design direction in a timely manner. You will have good understanding of front-end development which informs your designs and allows you to “speak dev” when talking with clients and collaborating with team members. Springbox is looking for someone who is curious and stays up to date on emerging technologies. You know what impact your ideas and designs have, and you’ll be able to clearly communicate and educate clients. Approaching work with a solid understanding of Design Thinking methods is expected. Creativity, basic front-end development knowledge, the ability to collaborate with all teams, independence, flexibility and accountability are musts.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on the creation of memorable and impactful products for a wide range of digital experiences, including web, mobile, and desktop applications.
  • Create artifacts (research, planning, concepts, user flows, detailed wireframes, prototypes and other interaction design deliverables) that communicate and facilitate the development of user experiences that drive client value.
  • Work collaboratively with clients to translate business requirements into detailed application design solutions.
  • Advocate fiercely for the needs of end users.
  • Participate in a user-centered design process using Design Thinking methods.
  • Validate design choices through user testing. 
  • Collaborate daily with a core team of specialists, strategists, visual designers, content strategists and visual designers, to deliver digital experiences.
  • Document design standards.

Requirements/Qualifications

  • 3+ years experience in an interactive agency or product team — past interactive focus is a must
  • Full proficiency with standard wireframing/prototyping tools (Axure, InVision, etc.), strong proficiency with the Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, OmniGraffle.
  • Able to analyze and draw rational conclusions based on research and collaboration to develop clear direction and presentations for recommendations around direction.
  • Strong understanding of the implications of design choices on usability and accessibility, development effort, and SEO.
  • A solid understanding of the requirements and design for various form factors, including desktop, mobile, wearable, embedded, and large-scale screens.

Bonus Skills/Qualifications

  • Ability to develop prototypes using HTML/CSS and JavaScript
  • Demonstrable experience with prototyping tools such as Framer, Origami, or Proto.io
  • Experience working on Agile teams
  • Experience implementing design processes and mentoring junior designers
